Rhinoceros, commonly abbreviated as rhino, is a group of large, herbivorous mammals characterized by their thick protective skin and one or two horns on their snouts.
There are five extant species of rhinoceros:
1. White rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum)
2. Black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis)
3. Indian rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis)
4. Javan rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus)
5. Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis)
The word "rhinoceros" comes from the Greek words "rhino" (nose) and "ceros" (horn).
